Challenge
An engineer was simulating industrial pipe flows using their 16 core workstation and a well known commercial CFD tool. They ran several steady state RANS runs per day, but had no capacity to do transient simulations and couldn’t justify an additional workstation & license purchase.

Solution
The engineer supplemented their existing simulation workflow with EXN/Aero to provide their client with transient simulations. Anytime a client requested additional runs, they provisioned additional compute resources right away to get them their data quickly. This engineer also used the tool to produce high value transient cases to better market their services in their industry.

Further Impacts
The engineer used EXN/Aero on more exploratory types of CFD applications to further differentiate themselves in the market. These simulations didn’t take away from existing workflows and enhanced the value of their marketing activities.

Challenge
An engineering consulting firm was looking to diversify their service offering by providing CFD simulations to compliment their structural analysis. While they recognized the value in CFD simulations, they didn’t have enough excess cash to purchase a license seat with a powerful workstation.

Solution
The team activated an EXN/Aero account to familiarize themselves with the tool while they pitched CFD services to existing clients. The engineering consultancy was able to bid on projects involving much larger sizes simulations that would have cost over $100,000 in license & compute hardware. When they weren’t using the platform, it only cost them $250 / month for the subscription fee.

Challenge
A team of engineers were working on simulating equipment in a very turbulent marine environment. Due to project constraints, they needed to complete their simulations within 6 weeks. With their existing configuration, the simulations would take over 6 months unless they upgraded their compute hardware and added more HPC licenses.

Solution
This team approached Envenio to help them temporarily expand their simulation capacity in order to meet the project deadlines. Using EXN/Aero’s speed up and on-demand capabilities, they were able to run all of their DES simulations in parallel which helped them meet their deadline.

Further Impacts
On top of reducing their time to completion by 4 times, they also reduced their simulation costs by 3 times. After this project they were able to use the platform for faster project turn around and an ability to simulate many design configurations in parallel instead of sequentially. The lower cost solution also helped them better manage project cash-flow.
